Rodent Control

Some Background

Coastal waterways have always been a safe haven for rats and mice. Here in the panhandle of Florida, it’s no different. There are three species of rats primarily found in the Panhandle of Florida; the Norway ray, the Roof rat, and the Wood rat. Rats are primarily nocturnal rodents, preferring the cover of darkness to find food in order to avoid raptors and other predators. The choose to run along walls and fences, frequently ducking behind cover to avoid falling prey to other wildlife. They will frequently find themselves inside of walls and attics of homes both through chewing their way in and slipping into gaps left during construction.

We control rats through trapping and exclusion work. In some cases, one-way doors are another viable option to evict rats from a structure.

Mice are small, curious rodents. They can fit into gaps as small as 1/4” and frequently will find themselves inside of walls and attics of homes. Like all rodents, they frequently chew in order to keep their teeth short and sharp. They are more curious than rats, making trapping a effective, yet frequently discounted method of controlling them.

In most cases, effectively controlling rodents involves some type of exclusion work in order to keep the population of rodents under control and keep them out of structures. Sometimes longer-term trapping is necessary to keep the population down. Our exclusion work carries a one-year warranty with options to extend past that timeframe.
