Armadillos

Some Background

The nine-banded armadillo found in the Florida panhandle is a unique mammal in several ways. They are omnivores, but their primary diet consists of insects and small vertebrates. They frequently make themselves known by small, cone-shaped holes they dig in search of grubs when feeding. Their vision is lacking, and they navigate be bumping into walls, hedgerows, and fences.

Armadillos are burrowers, frequently finding residence under sheds, porches, A/C units and other low-lying shelter. They frequently dig themselves under fences to gain access to lawns, mostly looking for moist environments where grubs and worms are abundant.

Exclusion

During inspection, we will work to identify and provide solutions in order to keep armadillos out from under your home and where possible, out of your yard entirely.

We strive to ensure our exclusion work is aesthetically pleasing and effective. Our exclusion work carries a one-year warranty with plans available to extend the timeframe.

Removal

As with most species, the most effective method of removing armadillos is through trapping. Armadillos are notoriously difficult for a novice to trap, often ignoring trap sets entirely despite the trappers’ best efforts.

We use humane traps and trapping methods to effectively catch and remove armadillos from properties. During inspection, we identify points of ingress being used by the armadillos and when possible, locate the dwellings of the animals in order to create effective trap sets for catching the animals.
